Reconnect with nature at the Wander Wild festival

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Killarney National Park, Ireland’s unique adventure and wellness festival offers a mix of thrills and mindfulness.

The Wander Wild festival runs from 22–24 March 2024 in Killarney and this year has added 30 new events, an extended wellness hub and a bigger base camp in the town centre.

The festival takes advantage of the gorgeous landscape in the Killarney National Park – a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve – with a wide range of outdoor activities including wild swimming, mountain hiking, horse riding, biking, kayaking and paddle-boarding.

Thrill seekers can sign up to climb Carrauntoohil, Ireland’s highest mountain, or tackle some rock climbing at the beautiful Gap of Dunloe. Those who prefer gentler activities with a focus on wellness have a wealth to choose from. The extended wellness programme includes healing sound baths, a herbal medicine workshop, mindset workshops and quantum touch, as well as the return of popular activities such as yoga and light therapy, Reiki, sunrise vinyasa, lakeside sauna, and forest bathing.

This year the festival has added exciting new experiences including a dark sky hike in one of the world’s best stargazing spots and a number of workshops and guided walks.

There is a chance to savour local cuisine on a food tour, capture the beauty of the landscape on a guided photography shoot or relax and listen to stories of adventure at one of the fireside chats. There are also lots of family friendly events for young adventurers to enjoy.

And as well as the ticketed events you can explore the national park on foot or cycle at your own pace.

The festival’s basecamp in Killarney town will be even bigger and brighter this year with live music events, new stalls, film screenings and exhibitions as well as the usual buzz and craic in the local bars.

With nature at the heart of the Wander Wild festival, the organisers are committed to following sustainable tourism principles. Festival goers are encouraged to use the eco-friendly buses to shuttle between event locations and there is onsite recycling at the basecamp and a no single-use plastic policy. A number of eco-friendly accommodation options are also available in the area.

The Wander Wild Festival offers an unparalleled opportunity to reconnect with nature, challenge yourself and restore your wellbeing in one of the most beautiful places on earth.
